PLEQ listed in the CSA STAR registry: Level 1 achieved
Occupancy data is about spaces, not people. Even so, you expect the party behind your sensors and dashboards to have its security in place and to be transparent about it. That is why PLEQ has been listed in the Cloud Security Alliance's CSA STAR registry since 15 July 2026, at Level 1.

What is CSA STAR?
STAR stands for Security, Trust, Assurance and Risk. It is a public registry from the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a non-profit organisation that develops best practices for cloud security globally. In it, cloud providers document how they have set up their security, enabling customers to compare providers before making a choice.
The registry is based on the Cloud Controls Matrix (CCM), a framework of controls covering areas such as access management, data protection, incident response, and vendor management.
What does Level 1 mean?
At Level 1, the provider completes a self-assessment using the CAIQ (Consensus Assessments Initiative Questionnaire, version 4.0.1). For each control, we outline what we do and provide further details. These responses are publicly accessible.
What are the benefits for you?
Transparency: you can see for yourself how we have configured our security, without needing to send a questionnaire first.
Faster vendor assessment: your IT, security, and privacy colleagues will find many answers already available in the registry.
A reliable starting point: the CAIQ follows a widely recognised framework, making it easy to compare us with other vendors.
Privacy and security by design
No cameras, no personal data. Our sensor counts anonymously using Time-of-Flight technology. Only anonymised count data is stored.
Encrypted transmission. Data is sent securely, using AES-128 encryption with LoRaWAN.
Storage within the EU, in compliance with the GDPR.
Your data remains yours. Your organisation retains ownership and manages data flows via the admin panel.
Where do we go from here?
Security is never complete. This registration is a step in an ongoing process: we remain transparent about our practices and regularly review our controls.
