FAQ

FAQ

FAQ

How does the sensor measure utilisation?

Our sensor accurately measures occupancy by counting the number of people entering and leaving a space. Using Time-of-Flight technology, the sensor creates a 3D distance image and detects movements in both directions – entirely anonymously and without a camera. This enables real-time occupancy calculations and translates into a clear occupancy percentage. Reliable, privacy-friendly, and ideal for smart space utilisation.

Where is the data stored?

Data is transmitted in real-time via a secure connection (such as LoRaWAN or Ethernet) to our cloud environment. With LoRaWAN, the data is encrypted with AES-128 encryption, ensuring safe transmission. In the cloud, the raw sensor data is processed into occupancy and utilisation information. This information is available through our dashboard or API. All data is stored on servers within the EU and complies with applicable privacy legislation (AVG and GDPR). No images or personal data are stored, only anonymised counting data.

What is LoraWan?

LoRaWAN enables sensors – such as occupancy or environmental sensors – to connect wirelessly to a central server, without the use of Wi-Fi or mobile internet. Thanks to its low power consumption, sensors can operate for years on batteries, making it ideal for buildings without a constant power supply. Key features: Wide range: up to 10 km in open areas, 1–2 km in urban environments Low energy consumption: perfect for battery-powered devices Secure: end-to-end encryption with AES-128 Suitable for IoT: designed for simple, reliable data collection from many devices simultaneously LoRaWAN is widely used in smart buildings, agriculture, mobility, and other IoT applications where range, efficiency, and long life are essential.
